Section 504

In accordance with Section 504, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Fair Housing Act, it is the policy of Aurora Housing Authority to make reasonable accommodation in rules, policies, practices, or services when such accommodation may be necessary to afford a person with a disability the equal opportunity to use and enjoy a program or dwelling under the program.

Reasonable Accomodations

The Housing Authority of Aurora (AHA) is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to persons with disabilities to help ensure an otherwise eligible person receives an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from its housing programs. Upon request, a reasonable accommodation to change AHA policies and procedures will be considered.

Reasonable accommodation requests may be submitted either in writing or verbally at any time to the AHA.

Grievances

Aurora Housing Authority does not discriminate on the basis of disability status in the admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its federally-assisted programs and activities. AHA has adopted an internal grievance procedure providing for prompt and equitable resolution of complaints alleging any action prohibited by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Any person who believes they have been subjected to discrimination on the basis of disability may file a grievance under this procedure. It is against the law for Aurora Housing Authority to retaliate against anyone who files a grievance.
