Real Estate Development

It is the mission of the Housing Authority of the City of Aurora (AHA) Development Department to preserve and increase affordable housing opportunities and choices for Aurora residents. It is our intention to be an active partner with the City of Aurora to revitalize neighborhoods, and to be the premier developer of affordable housing within the City.

We construct and renovate affordable rental developments that are sustainable and valuable assets, and provide exception rental housing opportunities for a broad spectrum of economic levels.

The Housing Authority of the City of Aurora is an independent entity from the City of Aurora and receives no direct funding from the City.  AHA uses public and private debt sources, local and federal grant funding, and the Low Income Housing Tax Credit to finance the acquisition, preservation, and development of its housing.

AHA welcomes inquiries about our developments.  In addition to AHA owned and managed portfolio, we have participated with other non- and for-profit developers in the creation and preservation of affordable rental housing.  Please refer to the section on ‘development participation’.
