For the purposes of our listings here, AHA's Affordable Housing refers to properties managed by the Housing Authority of the City of Aurora (AHA) that have limits on how high the rent can go, as well as the income the renter can make in order to be a part of the program. The monthly rent in these housing units is generally closer to market rent than a subsidized housing unit. However, some of our affordable developments offer different rent structures depending on income related to affordability and market.  These are sometimes also known as "workforce" housing. Workforce housing is generally understood to mean affordable housing for households with earned income that is insufficient to secure quality housing in reasonable proximity to the workplace

Currently (2014) while different programs may have different limits, the Area Median Income standards for a 2-bedroom unit in Arapahoe County under the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program rated for a 60% AMI for a family of four would have an income limit of $47,580, and a rent ceiling of $1,071 minus any applicable utility allowances. We have reproduced the chart here, but please contact the property if you are concerned about the income guidelines.
